Successful integration within the LINCOS network and installation of a LINCOS Unit requires planning, financing, partners and the support of the local community. These requirements are outlined in further detail below.

Most importantly, communities must put forth their best effort and dedication to be successful. They must organize themselves as a legal entity, such as an Association, Foundation, Board of Management, etc. They must find a property with an approximate area of 50 x 50 meters to install the Unit (it must be able to house the Unit(s), its canopy, and the ancillary services such as toilets and storerooms, in addition to the external power source (power plant, cells, mill, etc.) They should also be able to organize themselves and provide the local work teams. Above all, the most important ingredients they have to contribute are enthusiasm and a willingness to work for their community.

Further requirements include:
+ An entity willing to finance the cost of the Unit, training and installation and training courses. It can be a firm, a foundation, or a private organization. The cost depends on the number of applications included, but on average, it ranges from $82,000 to $150,000. The total cost ultimately depends on the number of installed Units, the applications and equipment included, the local cost of materials, transportation and lodging of the program’s technicians.

  • A higher education institution related to the technological field, to serve as a counterpart and to help providing the required technical and community support.

  • A University or academic group related to the business world, which can help design an appropriate economic model for the project’s financial sustainability.

  • A government group which includes representatives from the sectors of education, health, agriculture and the environment.

  • A group of “friends” or sponsors (local entrepreneurs, organisations, companies), willing to contribute to the project’s sustainability during the first year.

  • Organized community groups interested in improving local living conditions, who are willing to work hard to achieve their goal.

This group of organizations join together to form a national BOARD of DIRECTORS that directly and responsibly manages the project.
